“Even though I knew how it would all end, I was still on the edge of my seat,” said Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart of the DC premiere of Zero Dark Thirty at the Newseum. “It was like ‘Homeland’ only real-er.”

“Thought it was riveting like everyone says, although small bits of DC seemed off like the haughty National Security Advisor who had a faint British accent and James Gandolfini’s interpretation of Leon Panetta as prickly which didn’t ring true to those of us who know the avuncular pol,” said movie buff and National Journal’s Matt Cooper.

It’s great at catching what it’s like to work with a colleague who is brilliant AND a huge pain in the ass–something we see a lot of around here.”

The film, which opens in theaters nation-wide on January 11th, depicts the decade-long hunt for Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks and his death by the Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 in May of 2011 and brings to light those working behind the scenes with extraordinary dedication and determination.

Director Kathryn Bigelow, screenwriter Mark Boal and Chis Pratt walked the Red Carpet on behalf of their talented team which includes Jessica Chastain who is said to be in the run for an Oscar as is Bigelow, Boal and the film itself which has already won numerous awards including the Golden Globes………..and clearly marked for nominations by The Academy.

“Kathryn Bigelow is an incredible filmmaker.  She and her team did an extraordinary job depicting this part of an incredible arc of our history, one that is painful and complicated on many levels, and the sacrifices so many people  –  Americans and non-Americans – made,” MSNBC contributor Karen Finney told us.
