“The National Cherry Blossom Festival unites our local community and it was incredible to work with such tremendous vocal talent in our first-ever Sing Into Spring competition.” said festival president Diana Mayhew at a competition soiree at The Hard Rock Cafe.
“Each finalist demonstrated extraordinary talent and immense passion for the performing arts as they took the stage and we are very excited to have the chosen vocalists join us in making this year’s annual Parade even more dynamic.”
The judges
Finalists auditioned for the opportunity to perform in the 2014 National Cherry Blossom Festival parade presented by Events DC and sang in front of a renowned panel of judges: Judge Darik Kristopher (94.7 Fresh FM), Host Justin Guarini (American Idol), Judge Louise Robinson (Sweet Honey in the Rock), Festival President Diana Mayhew, Judge Russell Webster (Hidden Icon Management, Inc.), Judge Brenda Goldsmith (JM Best Entertainment/National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade Producer), Judge Jakari Sherman (Step Afrika!), and Judge Joe Coleman (The Platters)
Hosted by former American Idol contestant Justin Guarini, up to four solo or group vocalists from the Washington-metropolitan area were selected to spotlight their talent among a standout lineup of celebrity entertainers, marching bands from across the country, energetic performers, giant colorful helium balloons, and elaborate floats in a magnificent musical showcase to be exclusively performed during the finale event of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

The parade is the largest spectator event throughout the Festival’s 25-day duration and will be held from 10:00 am to noon on Saturday, April 12, 2014
