“I worked in India for a year with Mother Teresa,” said founder of Dog Tag Bakery Father Rick Curry, “and she had these two magic words to say when you gave her a gift: Not enough!”

The DC private screening of VEEP was an occasion to raise money for Dog Tag Bakery to empower the lives of veterans and military families. According to the mission statement, there are over 2.6 million veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, with more than 1 million injuries. It is estimated that 1 in 5 returning veterans have post-traumatic stress disorder. These visible and invisible wounds require individualized training in specialized classes to ensure efficient reintegration into the civilian workforce. Dog Tag Inc. seeks to provide a transformative opportunity for veterans with disabilities by offering an education at Georgetown University and real life work experience in our small business venture.

Model-Actress Kelly Schwartz who co-hosted the event with her husband Roy (POLITICO’s chief revenue officer) weighed in on VEEP and other political shows being shot in the DC area. “I think as an actress in the area we are fortunate to have two really great shows being shot here – VEEP and House of Cards in Baltimore and we also have TURN coming from Richmond.”
