DC’S posh City Center is almost like a luxurious town that sprung up right in the middle of DC, and this week it gained one more resident: Enter Fig & Olive, the 330 seat Mediterranean outpost which sits alongside of Hermes and Hugo Boss in one of the most upscale areas of town.

With 10,000 square feet to its footprint, a sprawling bar and cavernous upstairs dining room, the restaurant is sure to draw in crowds just as its sister locations in New York and Los Angeles have done. Founded by Laurent Halasz, who grew up in Mougins in the South of France, the location brings the European flair and delicate dishes to its clientele. It’s only appropriate that Halasz and even the Mayor of Mougins arrived in DC to cut the ribbon on the much anticipated spot.

Hoards of guests snaked in a line around the stone courtyard of City Center for a chance to pop inside, pop bottles of champagne and taste some of the delectable morsels that filled the freshly minted location with the smells of years and years of fine dining.

Fig & Olive emphasizes details including olive oil pairings for dishes and on that accord alone, diners are in for a treat. Check it out starting this week.
