All eyes will be on The Washington Redskins playoffs against the The Seattle Seahwasks this weekend, but elsewhere an all-star lineup of two wheel talent was speed traveling at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France.

John McGuinness, Randy Mamola, plus star in the making Pol Espargaro and endurance racer Keith Flint, rode on a specially arranged track.  We’re impressed – but what struck us most was the colorfully impressive art work on the racers’ clothing and their bikes…..brilliant.

That got us thinking:  How do they brand and design these sporting events?  We turned to Olympic artist Mark T. Smith, whose own art has graced many a sporting event and brand campaigns, for the answers.

Smith, formerly of Washington, D.C. and now of Miami, has done branding for MTV, Pepsi, AT&T, Budweiser, VH-1, Walt Disney Co, and many more. The distinctiveness of Smith’s work culminated in the national Absolut Vodka campaign and of course, the Olypmics.
