50 Most Beautiful….

50 Most Beautiful….

First of all, we’d like to thank the fig lady who served up platters of the fresh fruit smothered in walnuts and covered with Stilton cheese and offered in abundance at The Hill’s 50 Most Beautiful annual event held this year at The Observatory at America’s Square on New Jersey Avenue. We’re not sure if the ‘beautiful’ people were tempted by the high carb appetizers, but we liked them so much we went home and googled a recipe.

Each year, The Hill’s staff puts in an almost year long search for the 50 Most Beautiful sifting through scores of peer recommendations and whittles it down to 50 from nearly 500 submissions.  So how do you get on the list and what does it feel like when you do? Apparently you can nominate yourself, bribe a friend or just rely on luck. “There’s no secret sauce,” claimed In the Know columnist Judy Kurtz during a recent interview on Fox5 TV.

“While it was an honor to be named to the list a few years ago,” Neil Grace told Hollywood on the Potomac. “It armed my friends with a lifetime of one-liners from the profile. I will never live down ‘I love fun socks.’ You can’t take it too seriously.”

“Welcome to The Hill’s 50 Most Beautiful celebration,” said Editor in Chief Bob Cusack.  “This is our 13th annual list, which also got a nice shout-out on Veep this past season. I’m glad many of the nominees were able to join us. Please make sure to congratulate anyone with a blue bracelet, as those people made the list. Those bracelets are not transferable. I’d also definitely like to thank the National Beer Wholesalers Association for their longstanding commitment to the success of this event. Remember, we’ve got brews here tonight, exotic ones. If you did not make the list, you can make it next year.”

Most notable expression of the night?  Eye rolling when discussing the status of the Presidential Campaigns.  Meet the policy wonks, not necessarily part of the eye rolling crowd:
