After “In the Land of Blood and Honey” was released, (it premiered in Washington, D.C. at The Holocaust Museum), authorities in Sarajevo named the actress-director an ‘honorary citizen’ in recognition of her directorial debut at the Sarajevo Film Festival over the weekend.
The film covered the Bosnia war from 1992-95, an inspiration derived from role as UNHCR Ambassador during which time she visited the belabored country.
Prior to the premiere Jolie toured the exhibit on genocide prevention. It was a stark reminder that some things never change.
