“Lawless”, the new movie from director John Hillcoat (The Proposition, The Road), hits theaters on August 29th; a mid-1920s Franklin County, Virginia in the thrall of prohibition and all the wild, law-hating characters it brings out of the wood work. The Weinstein Company has put together a website dedicated to the film, and it offers all kinds of fun goodies befitting the spirit of a movie starring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, Jessica Chastain, and a whole mess of bullets, blood and booze.

The three Bondurant brothers run a bootlegging operation during the depression, up in the mountains of Franklin County, Virginia.

Crooked Special Deputy Charles Rakes is after a share of the brothers’ profits. Compounding their troubles, the local competition is elbowing in on their activities. Forrest’s boisterous defiance and Cricket’s knack for moonshine production help the brothers gain a local monopoly.

When Forrest is wounded as tension with Rakes escalates, Jack, initially the timid one, must prove his worth against gangster Floyd Banner’s mob, and we see him metamorphose into a cocky exhibitionist in his attempts to woo the off-limits preacher’s daughter, Bertha.” Production notes.

Starring Shia LaBeouf who has quickly become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors.

His natural talent and raw energy have secured his place as one of Hollywood’s leading men.
