It’s a drug, really.

It’s a drug, really.

When we first heard that Michael Jordan would be playing himself in SOMM, we were a bit taken back.  The Ritz-Carlton’s most famous resident in D.C. going from basketball to wine?  Say it isn’t so.  Well, it wasn’t, turns about they were talking about another Michael Jordan, from The Court of Master Sommeliers.

Whatever, we’ll have what any Michael Jordan is having.

So, how much do you really know about wine?  SOMM spells it out for us, opening in theaters on November 7th.

“Somm is the exhilarating story of four talented young sommeliers attempting to pass the prestigious Master Sommelier exam, a test with one of the lowest pass rates in the world. The exam covers literally anything having to do with the entire world of wine and that is just the beginning. Sommeliers also have to know everything there is to know about pairing wine with food, about spirits, cigars, and anything served in a restaurant.

“Access to the Court Of Master Sommeliers has always been strictly regulated and cameras have never been allowed anywhere near the exam….until now. Intrepid filmmaker Jason Wise takes us on a journey inside the process. Along the way, we get to know his four subjects almost as intimately as they know themselves.” IMDB

“Over the four decades since the Court’s first examination was held, 186 candidates have earned the Master Sommelier Diploma. In the service of wine, spirits and other alcoholic beverages, the Master Sommelier Diploma is the ultimate professional credential anyone can attain worldwide.” for more tidbits on becoming a Sommelier go to their site.
