Under both sad and unprecedented circumstances, Lyndon Baines Johnson took the presidential oath of office on board Air Force One on November 23rd, 1963 following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. LBJ became the 36th President of The United States.
Johnson was bigger than life – not just in size but in presence. While talking to Lloyd and Ann Hand about their relationship with the president, you could almost feel his aura in the room, intensified by Ann’s still heavy Texan drawl. (which smart women keep when they come East)

Lloyd began his government career in 1957 as assistant to then Senate Majority Leader Lyndon B. Johnson. When Johnson became President, he was appointed U.S. Chief of Protocol with the rank of Ambassador.
They quickly and successfully moved into the fast pace of Washington social life and have remain a popular fixture on the scene ever since………he as an attorney and she as a jewelry designer.
