Suit up!

Suit up!

by columnist Wendy Gordon

“Wait.  Let me get this straight.  You don’t have even ONE SUIT in your closet?,”  I queried my significant other.  “Uh… I don’t wear suits,” he answered.  “Au contraire –  every man should have at least one suit in their repertoire.”

Enter Indochino.

Indo

At a pop up at Living Social HQ at 918 F Street, they showed their wares—ties, custom suits, custom shirts, accessories…..…a dream come true for the metro-sexual to the schlub-garbed.  And, all you have to do is take some measurements and log on.  Or better, have their tailors measure you to a ‘t’ at the temporary local store.  And once measured, you’re fit for life.  This is the best thing since white bread and black tie.

According to Heikal Gani, chief creative officer, president and co-founder of Indochino, “What we started out to do was something functional for the modern man. We have essentials for guys who really need everything from formal wear to charcoal and black suits.  They are easy to accessorize and dress up or down—timeless.  The premium is more high end for guys that want to make a statement.”

Don’t let this lead you astray.  Even the less than high end…is high end.  Choose your fabric, cut – monogram or not?  Collar style?  There are several.  Tech pockets?  Who knew?  Salmon chinos to dark pinstripes; gingham to paisley to solids to a variety of Tuxedos.  More…show us more!

Kyle Vucko, CEO and co-founder, explains that at Indochino, they make it easy for men to focus—“we make a custom made garment that’s affordable, allowing men to point, click and buy—perfect for the busy guy.  One of the reasons we have a pop up store is we have a place for men to touch and feel, and may need a bit of extra help—where they can work with a stylist.   If the garment doesn’t fit, we will pay for a tailor to make it right; if the garment is not right, we’ll remake it for free or we will refund.”  Ding…ding…ding!!  Win-win!

“There’s a lot of young professionals in DC,” Vucko said.  There’s a growing sense of wanting to be fashionable,’ Vucko added.

Joie!  I, for one, applaud this idea.  I mean really, it can be difficult enough to get our men to go shopping; this way, not only can they get a fabulous variety of garments online, suited just for them, but once their measurements are on site, we can order for them too.

Make an appointment and stop by Living Social this week.  Or…who am I kidding?  Simply log into www.indochino.com.  It may be the best thing you do for yourselves all year, Gentlemen.  Ladies…it may be the most satisfying thing you do for them.

Indochino’s pop up will be at Living Social HQ from March 2-10 from 8am to 8pm. Reservations for a tailor appointment are recommended.

Thank you, Indochino, for making my man the James Bond I always knew was in him, even if, perhaps, he didn’t.  You truly are man’s (and woman’s) best friend.
