Designers were putting the finishing touches on the dinner venue for the annual soiree hosted on Friday night by Katherine and David Bradley, owner of Atlantic Media which includes The National Journal.
Their annual pre-party before The White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner is themed both in art and in cuisine.
The art that flanked the garden dining area: “The Ballets Russes—the most innovative dance company of the 20th century—propelled the performing arts to new heights through groundbreaking collaborations between artists, composers, choreographers, dancers, and fashion designers. Founded by Russian impresario Serge Diaghilev (1872–1929) in Paris in 1909, the company combined Russian and Western traditions with a healthy dose of modernism, thrilling and shocking audiences with its powerful fusion of choreography, music, and design.” The National Gallery of Art

The Powerhouse, one of Georgetown’s newest hot spots, was certainly heating up on Friday night for one of The White House Correspondents’ Association’s weekend’s first major pre-partys.

Sponsored by The National Journal, The Atlantic and OurTime.org, the fete was a wall-to-wall explosion of celebration for media, politicos and general revelers who were ready to get into spirit for the annual ‘Nerd Prom’ weekend.
The multi-level venue is tucked in Georgetown’s old industrial district and was the perfect backdrop for drinks, dancing and celeb spotting and lots of photo taking.
We’re not sure if John Legend or Lauren Bush showed up, but every journalist in town did.

To say that Kevin Spacey and “The House of Cards” dominated the evening is an understatement. Ever since Netflix picked up the series, which is eerily similar to politics as usual, the star is a constant reminder of how things should not be done in Washington.
