By day he is the Vice President of The Entertainment Software Association; by night the lead singer in The Surreal McCoys. Translation: Erik Huey is a rock star that Hollywood on the Potomac has witnessed first hand from here to the Oscars weekend in LA.
Friday night they’ll be playing at Hill Country. What to expect? Check out this rocking interview with Famous DC: “It’s a real sweat-soaked rock-n-roll hootenanny. A lot of jumping around onstage and audience participation. I was talking to the comedian Sarah Silverman a while back and she asked me to describe our music. I said it’s sort of Johnny Cash meets The Clash. And she deadpanned “well, why don’t you just call it ‘Johnny Clash’”? So yeah, that pretty much nails it.”

“We are The Surreal McCoys and who the hell are we to argue with the mighty Big Audio Dynamite? Because we do indeed have musical instruments, and we are indeed coming to a town near you—namely Washington, DC on Friday, May 17.
That’s right, this wayward band of “Hardcore Troubadours” will be bringing our brand of “Johnny Clash” Cow Punk to Hill Country DC—located at 410 7th St, NW in Penn Corridor—for a full-fledged rock-n-roll hootenanny,” said Huey.
Cardinal Wueri, Archidiocese of Washington says it best though: “The Confession Booths are always rather full the morning after a Surreal McCoys show.”
The ESA also watches over intellectual property protection stuff. So, we want you to know up front that Erik Huey has given us rights to use his video. So there!
