Spain may have lost the final round of the 2013 Confederations Cup played out between Brazil and Spain, but it was hard to feel like a loser if you were a guest of Ramón Gil-Casares, The Ambassador of Spain, at his residence on Foxhall Road for the playoff.

The game was barely underway before Brazil scored a quick lead within the first few minutes leaving Spainards only hopeful by halftime. That didn’t stop guests, who by then were practially reconciled to a lost, from enjoying lots of wine and a Spanish themed buffet.
The soccer addiction starts early in Spain, hence a youthful prescence where face paint and red uniforms abound. “Grownups” at the event included The Ambassador of the EU Joao Vale de Almeida, Moises Naim of The Carnegie Endowment, Harold Forsyth, The Ambassador of Peru, journalist Roland Flamini and The Ambassador of Portugal Nuno Brito.
