“Marie and I are delighted that you could join us on this farewell occasion,” said Michael Collins, The Ambassador of Ireland.
“It is sometimes said that an Irish man says goodbye and never leaves – and I think it is bit like that for us at this very moment because we have been saying a lot of goodbyes recently, but we’re still here.”
The popular couple have been making their farewell lap around town and preparing for their final diplomatic destination: Berlin, Germany. Collins, we might add, is already taking on his new mantra by wishing his friends, his staff and his colleagues “auf wiedersehen.”

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was just one on a high profile guest list that included Bob and Elaine Bennett, newly appointed Director of the CIA John O. Brennan with his wife Kathy, Sir Peter Westmacott – The Ambassador of The United Kingdom, political columnist and commentator Mark Shields, Chief of Protocol Capricia Marshall, Senator Patrick Leahy and of course – the Quinn brothers Tommy and Paul.
