Richard Milhous Nixon was the 37th President of the United States from 1969 to 1974. He was the only president to resign the office. He graced the cover of TIME magazine 56 times. He would have been 100 years old this year. To say the least, he never fails to fascinate…….or haunt us. He had a dark side.

Edward Calvert Nixon, the youngest and last surviving brother of President Nixon, has been making the rounds on television the last few days in conjunction with OUR NIXON that aired on CNN last night. OUR NIXON was previously screened in collaboration with the National Archives on June 23rd as part of AFI Docs Film Festival in Washington, D.C. which was followed by a panel discussion featuring two former members of the Nixon Administration – special assistant Dwight Chapin and speechwriter Lee Huebner. Each time a new documentary or book or essay or reflection on the presidency of Richard Milhous Nixon surfaces – we watch, we read, we listen. Each time we pick up a new angle, a new tidbit. But in the end, he was a brilliant man who destroyed himself through his own insecurities. Sad.
