Everyone’s favorite magician (think Max Major), twice voted DC’s “Best Performance Artist” by readers of the Washington City Paper, worked his magic at the Capital Area Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala at The Mayflower Hotel. As Master of Ceremony, he used a combination of magic, psychology and charm to entertain the guests while he pulled the award winners out of the “hat” of nominees in each category.  The occasion honored exceptional business leaders from the Metropolitan Area.

It was a colorful night – pinks, reds, blues, purples – what you might expect at the Copacabana in Rio!

“The Chamber created the awards dinner to showcase the achievement and impact of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender business and community leaders in our region. Each year, the Chamber recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations that have contributed to the economic, social and cultural fabric of the LGBT Community in the Metro DC area. Awardees display exemplary business success and have been strong leaders within the LGBT community based on philanthropy, advocacy and awareness. Awards categories are Excellence in Business, Business Leadership, Emerging Entrepreneur, Corporate Partner and the Volunteer of the Year Award,” according to their spokesperson.

Co-Chairs David L. Gilchrist & Silvia Tergas excelled in all aspects of the evening, including an amazing indulgent auction and entertainment by Singer Darsha who treated guests to an intimate set of soulful contemporary classics.
