Dr. Jill Biden, who was introduced by FOX 5 news anchor and close family friend Laura Evans, made brief and poignant remarks to the crowd of 400. Dr. Biden applauded the evening’s beneficiary, Survivors Offering Support, and encouraged guests to do whatever they could to help girlfriends or family battling cancer, like bringing over meals. Said Biden, “The little things matter. Once during a down period in my life, a friend bought me a red Chanel lipstick: it was a small gesture that made all the difference.”

“It was an incredible night…better & better each year,” Andrea Roane told Hollywood on the Potomac.

“What an honor it was for Dr. Jill Biden to join us in person and the videotaped message from survivor and GMA Correspondent, Amy Robach, underscoring the importance of younger women getting a mammogram. Because of the generous support of super benefactor Barry Glassman, also Spilled Milk Caterers, our DJ Ben Chang and Powerhouse, the Newsbabes were able to donate all ticket sales to Survivors Offering Support….almost 31-thousand dollars and counting! WOW!!!!! Can’t wait for 2015.”

Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres by Spilled Milk, who was an event sponsor along with Bethesda Row, Powerhouse, and Glassman Wealth Services, whose CEO Barry Glassman donated $10,000 to this year’s charity.

It’s estimated that the event raised over $30,000!
