“I’m very grateful to Google, that’s how I found you,” said MediaDC’s CEO Lou Ann Sabatier to newly appointed editorial director at the Washington Examiner Hugo Gurdon at a reception in his honor at Morton’s where the male heavy crowd indugled their cigar & scotch habits.

Gurdon, referring to his ‘note cards’ of his grandparents days which he still finds useful, thanked the guests: “I feel enormously flattered that people would come out and join me at this party. We will be competing fiercely with other publications and I am very confident we are making great strides already to do that. We have added four journalists to the newsroom and have plans for another fifteen, so we are going to be doubling in size over the next 12 months. You will see a dramatic change.”

“This is the ‘Back to Bad Schools’ issue and what’s wrong with American schools,” Gurdon pointed out in a slide presentation, acknowledging New Yorker cartoonist Christopher Weyant.
In between sliders and filet minion sandwiches, guests picked up copies of the latest issue and closed down the bar well after the party was over. Thank you Washington Examiner…………
