“It was a great privilege to represent my country in The United States. I represented a country that I loved – Hungary – and in a country that I loved – The United States,” Gyorgy Szapary, The Ambassador of Hungary, told Hollywood on the Potomac during a sit down interview at the home of Aniko and Nash Schott who hosted his farewell party.

Aniko is an exquisite Hungarian-born interior designer who has restored historic Georgetown homes and many embassies abroad including the United States Embassy in Hungary under Ambassador Nancy Brinker, founder of Susan G. Komen Foundation and Race for the Cure.  She is also a talented artist in her own right. Nash is a former Assistant US Attorney.  Together, they divide their time between Washington and Palm Beach.

The evening was also an opportunity to meet Csaba Kael, President, CEO and Artistic Director for the Palace of the Arts in Budapest – the equivalent of The Kennedy Center.  A great opera aficionado, Kael has directed and produced 45-50 Operas as well as films, documentaries, and television shows.

Hollywood on the Potomac sat down with Amb. Szapary and Csaba Kael where we learned about Hungarian culture, why Hungary has not been a target for terrorism and lots of good gossip on The Grand Budapest Hotel (nominated for an Academy Award), Madonna and Tom Hanks……

In converstion with Szapary & Kael:
