“I think that Hillary is well on her way to marching to the White House again,” Michael Kelly – who plays devious Doug Stamper, White House Chief of Staff to fictional President Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) on House of Cards – told Hollywood on the Potomac when leaving the PEOPLE & TIME cocktail party at the St. Regis Hotel on the eve of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.  As for Trump he said:  “It’s not going to happen. I don’t think we have to worry about that. I think enough people in America know that the people in this country deserve a leader who can operate with the proper decorum, respect and knowledge; not just for the country, but for the world.”

We crossed paths with former Washingtonian and now New York based editor at large for The Daily Beast Lloyd Grove.  As the two presumptive presidential nominees are New Yorkers, we wanted to know what the word on the street was about Donald Trump. “There are many words on the street about Donald Trump. I think people are surprised that he’s in a position to get the Republican nomination. No one would have predicted that, but it’ll be an interesting campaign, don’t you think? I wouldn’t say he’s well liked. I mean, I think he’s left a trail of unhappy campers in his business life, but he obviously has friends. Carl Icahn likes him.”

There were lots of “off limits” celebrities so we bring them to you in photos:
