“Let  me start by reminding you that we are COLOMBIA, COLOMBIA with two O’s; not the District of COLUMBIA with a U. This is COLOMBIA, don’t forget that!” said The Ambassador of COLOMBIA Juan Carlos Pinzon at the US Conference of Mayors Welcome Reception at his Residence co-hosted by Mrs. Pilar de Pinzon and Muriel Bowser, Mayor of The District of COLUMBIA.

Tony Ferguson and Julie Chase

“Tomorrow I’ll start at the Ritz Carlton West and the California Society luncheon, and then I’ll make my way down Pennsylvania Avenue to a couple of events there – some lobbying offices, and then Capitol Hill. And then on Friday I’ll be at the swearing in, the parade and go to some other lobbying offices on Pennsylvania Avenue,” Julie Chase told Hollywood on the Potomac. Do you think Democrats should be worried?  “I think everyone should be optimistic on both sides.”

Curtis Taylor

Q: Your thoughts on the Inaugural and the new administration without getting yourself in trouble? A: “Well, you have to say it is exciting either way,” Curtis Taylor told us.  “It’s ironic that we’re here celebrating a US conference of mayors which focuses on a significantly lower level of government that actually touches the people a lot more. So to have them here and that be juxtaposed with the climate at the national level, it’s kind of funny because it’s very friendly at this level. Nobody’s really talking about politics at a conference like this that’s designed to bring everybody up at a local level that really actually touches the people, so it’s to get this backdrop against a lot of the divisiveness that’s happening at the federal level, but it’s really not effecting people’s daily lives. I think it’s a lot of feelings involved either way, and I’m not seeing any evidence of that on the ground and in the field. It’s been very pleasurable these last couple of days. We’re looking forward to a great end of the week, and hopefully that sets us up for a little bit more friendly mood because I know a lot of things are falling apart at the national level.”
