“George IS an Oscar,” said columnist Mark Shields at an exclusive party at the MPAA celebrating an Honorary Oscar awarded to George Stevens, Jr.
There’s a lot of professional cloning going on in the Stevens family and lots of gold to prove it. Sitting on a table in front of the screening room at The Motion Picture Association of America were three gold statues………all named Oscar. His father was Academy Award–winning director George Stevens. His son is writer-director Michael Stevens.
Stevens is an award-winning film and television writer, director, producer and founder of the American Film Institute who has received eleven Emmys, two Peabody Awards and eight Writers Guild of America Awards for his television productions, including the annual Kennedy Center Honors – the most glamorous event in Washington.
