NIAF honored leaders in business, science, technology, education, philanthropy and sports at their annual Gala for their 37th Anniversary held at the Washington Hilton.

Former US Ambassador to the Vatican and Mrs. James Nicholson

Dignitaries from Italy included the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata; Ambassador to the United States Claudio Bisogniero; and Princess Beatrice of Borbone of the Two Sicilies. They were joined by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr. and Louis Freeh, former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and a NIAF vice chairman.

Guests rose to their feet when singer and songwriter Giada Valenti sang “Inno di Mameli,” Italy’s national anthem. Actress and singer Christina Carlucci, a graduate of New York University Tisch School of Arts, sang the U.S. national anthem.  Among the special guests were ESPN’s Tony Reali, Olympic Gold Medalist Hope Solo and Olympic Platform Diver Brittany A.
