Guests at The Foundation Fighting Blindness were plunged into the dark – a world of sensitivity they have probably never experienced before
The 2013 Dining in the Dark Visionary Awards Dinner was held at the Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner, Virginia where over 300 guests donned masks and ate in the dark, the same way that over 10 million Americans do when they suffer vision loss from diseases.
The event leadership included Co-Chairs Davida and James Luehrs; Visionary Awards were presented to David W. Thompson President and Chief Executive Officer Orbital Sciences Corporation and U.S. Department of Defense / U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Vision Center of Excellence.
The Foundation funds leading-edge research in promising areas such as genetics, gene therapy, retinal cell transplantation, retinal implants and pharmaceutical and nutritional therapies.
