Niche Media’s Capitol File Magazine hosted its 8th Annual After-Party at The Carnegie Library  immediately following the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.

Presented by the Bipartisan Policy Center, the after-party offered a rare opportunity for members of both parties to set aside partisan agendas for thoughtful discussions, camaraderie and celebration, according to the press release. Whoa – it’s a party. We seriously doubt there were thoughful discussions going on.

“So many members are spending so little time in Washington because they don’t want the baggage of being seen as an insider,” said Sarah Schaffer, president and editor-in-chief, Capitol File.

“The White House Correspondents’ Dinner weekend represents one of those few instances when they stay in town and we look forward to hosting a glamorous event and fostering a fun environment where bipartisanship can thrive.”  Or maybe, we think, they want to catch Nicole Kidman and Michael Douglas.  It wouldn’t be the first time for a Congressional-Hollywood lovefest.  Think gawking when celebs come to testify about various issues before Congress.

“They call them political parties for a reason—good politics brings people together with shared spirit, creativity, and even some fun,” said Jason Grumet, president, the Bipartisan Policy Center. “Once a year, the White House Correspondents’ Dinner reminds us all we’re on the same team.  We look forward to hosting our friends and colleagues from the press corps, and politicos from both sides of the aisle to celebrate the spirit of bipartisanship and inject some much-needed humor into the DC debate.”

Event sponsors included Clear Channel Communications, Inc., the Entertainment Software Association, Mercedes-Benz, Corona Light, Reyka Vodka, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Here’s what thoughtful discussions look like:
