Champagne at Sunset at the top of the W Hotel celebrated one of Washington’s most popular charitable events.

Elizabeth Penttinen hosted a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “My dear friend, who I lost in the month of September from cancer, is who inspired me to host this event.”(Penttinen in top photo)

The event sold tickets for $195, fifty dollars from each ticket donated directly to St. Jude.

St. Jude Hospital is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility. The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to “advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.

Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.”

A fabulous silent auction had amazing pieces such as an autographed CD from Lady Gaga, an autographed poster from Audrey Hepburn, and artwork from renowned photographer Len DePas.

“I contacted all these celebrities’ publicists and each one sent me these amazing auction pieces.” All proceeds from the auction items that were sold will go directly to St. Jude.

Not only were there amazing silent auction items, but there was amazing food donated by Jean-Georges! There was an entire sushi bar, chicken wraps, and a beautiful cake designed especially for this event.

There was an ice sculpture that was carved with the 50th anniversary logo for St.Jude, also a donation.

“I am hoping to raise $5,000 tonight,” Ms.Pentinnen said, and with the excitement there we’re sure we can check that off.
