Judith Beermann, Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of The Georgetown Dish, hosted a “Summer Scribe Splash” party at Cafe Milano to thank writers, advertisers, friends and colleagues. We weren’t sure what a scribe splash was, but hey – it was at Cafe Milano, so we scribe splased.

The GTown Dish launched in 2009 and has an interesting background.
Yale graduate Beth Solomon founded the publication. Her aunt was Nina Hyde, fashion editor of The Washington Post. Beth started as a freelance radio reporter for the Voice of America in East Africa, covering civil wars in Sudan and famine in Ethiopia. She worked for ABC News in Berlin and then as a speechwriter for U.S. Senator Sam Nunn. She then founded Planet Vox, a new media firm and worked in the entertainment industry at Endeavor talent agency, coming back to Washington to be communications director for the National Association of Manufacturers.

Judith Beerman took over the publication from Solomon.
After a government career at The Department of Housing and Urban Development, she returned to her love of the arts full-time. As associate publisher for The West End Guide, a local independent news magazine, she wrote a monthly column about Georgetown. From there, she went on to advertising for Capitol File, a Washington luxury lifestyle publication and also served as communications director for FotoWeek DC, a non-profit photography organization. Having graduated from George Washington University and residing here, The Georgetown Dish was a natural progression.
