Who says Tuesday nights can’t be fun? Attention fashionistas: If you weren’t on K Street on Tuesday night, you missed out on designer goods marked down to almost 90%.
The Sphinx Club held the annual District Sample Sale which benefited the programs of N Street Village, “a community of empowerment and recovery for homeless and low-income women in Washington, D.C.” This designer warehouse sale and charity benefit is a must for any DC fashion-lover looking for a high-end designer bargain that supports a good cause.
Over 700 women gathered together to rifle through racks of clothing, shoes and accessories from over 25 top boutiques while sipping Champagne and enjoying hors d’oeuvres from a myriad of Washington’s best restaurants.
100 percent of the proceeds are donated to the charity of choice, along with 12 legacy charities. The event included a silent auction and raffle, live music, complementary beauty services from Shobha eyebrow threading, PR at Partners Salon and Nectar Skin Bar.
Despite the large crowd and tight space, the event was civil – women negotiated with one another and for the most part, kept their claws to themselves. But who can really blame a hungry shoe lover – right?
The prices were markedly cheaper than anything you’d currently find at these boutiques: “I found a few amazing pieces from Emily Grace – although its kind of crazy, we’re finding some great stuff. I got this top for 80% off so I’m pretty psyched,” Stylist Naina Sangla said. Guests raved about their new wardrobe additions while being pampered at the numerous beauty stands: “I found two amazing dresses at Wink and two amazing shirts at Ginger for incredible great prices – its been a great experience and I’m excited to get my hair styled [at PR and Partners Salon]” sale-goer Blair Gottmried said.
Upstairs, guests indulged in everything from pumpkin soup to Georgetown Cupcakes: “The variety of restaurants is really impressive and the food is all really tasty,” sale-goer Melissa said. On top of that, some booths gave out gift certificates to their restaurants.
Patti Greenstein, owner of Kalorama Cookies, was especially excited to be at the event: “I used to always come as a shopper, and now I get to come as a vendor! Everyone’s having a great time and its really great exposure [for Kalorama cookies].”
On the way out, guests received goodie bags comprised of gift cards, accessories, snacks and more! The event was a great success. See ya next year!
