Nevin Martell – food writer, pop culture archeologist and photograher as he describes himself – is one of Washington’s favorite foodies. He recently teamed up with Executive Chef Capili of The Renaissance Hotel to guide us through “A Global Day of Discovery.”

Martell’s bio reads like a fancy buffett – he has been a food and culture writer for more than a decade and a half. His work regularly appears in The Washington Post, Wine Enthusiast, Washingtonian, Capitol File, Washington City Paper, Washington Post Express, Washington Flyer, DC Modern Luxury, Cheese Connoisseur, Plate and FSR, as well as online at CityEats.com – but who’s counting?
This is in addition to four books and one on the way: The Founding Farmers Cookbook: 100 Recipes for True Food + Drink, which will be published in October 2013.

There was no shortage of guests who piled on at the bar and lounge to discover Chef Capili and Martell’s special indigenous DC menu while enjoying the sounds of DC native DJ Adrian Loving and sipping on beer from DC Brau.
Chef Capili took over the kitchen: Devon Capili oversees the culinary direction and operation for the M Bar & Lounge and M Brasserie Restaurants. As Executive Chef, she joins the ranks of a select group of female Executive Chefs in DC. Her creativity and passion for food is an artful addition to the Washington dining scene.
