Election Buzz….

by columnist and AU intern Erica Adams

“I don’t like either of the candidates but I want to vote so… Obama.”

“I’m voting for Romney because I don’t agree with Obama Care.”

With the presidential election just hours away, students from American University, the most politically involved university in the nation, discuss the nail biting day ahead.

Who will it be? What will happen? Will my vote make a difference? These are questions coming from both sides of the political spectrum –  anxiety being the common denominator among the two parties.

With Hurricane Sandy a fresh memory, the madness has only just begun in this nation’s capital with a bigger and badder political storm only a day away!

After a quick Q & A with students around campus, it is evident that the majority of the Eagles are rooting for democratic candidate and current president Barack Obama, but there are definitely some strong republicans cheering for the other horse in this race, Mitt Romney. Only time will tell! This is sure to be a close one.

“I am voting for Mitt Romney due to a stance on lowering the estate tax.”  Gotta love that one.  Who thinks about such things at 18?  Must be ready to inherit.

“I am voting for Obama because I feel that his policies, especially his economic policies, will be more effective than Mitt Romney.”

American voters, and especially Washingtonians, are getting their party hats and champagne ready for the election festivities and events to come. Students in their first year of college, finally of age to vote, seem to be the most excited for the outcome.

“If I could vote I would vote for Romney because I think he is really good for the economy, also I agree with his economic policies.”

“I’m voting for Obama because I believe in a lot of the social programs that he’s putting in place and what he stands for.”

“I am also voting for Obama because I agree with a lot of his policies and we have seen a lot of Romney’s economic policies in the past and they haven’t worked.”

“Obama because i have stuck by his side since 2008. He got us out of war and his helping the middle class.”

Viva la difference!
