Geek to Chic!

Geek to Chic!

They may not be masters of the runway, but we know they’re good at their day jobs. That’s pretty much what you’d expect when you get a bunch of entrepreneurs and technology buffs on the catwalk for the 3rd Annual Geek 2 Chic fashion show, sponsored by Microsoft and Bloomingdales.

Proceeds from the event once again benefited the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship  (NFTE). NFTE creates and incubates opportunities for low-income youths who have an interest in business and helps them to develop their idea and run with them.

NBC Washington’s Angie Goff was at the podium again, hosting the event and trying to coach the geeks through proper runway presentation. Microsoft’s Dr. Mark Drapeau, who created the event also took the stage to welcome the DC techies in the crowd and talk about NFTE’s programs.

This year’s geeks came from every corner of the industry, including reps from Facebook, Twitter; startups like hin.ge and betterific; as well as government folks from the House of Reps and Dept of Treasury.

The evening included plenty of fun as the geeks danced down the runway, pumped up their own brands and schmoozed the crowd…who ate up every second of it.

After the show, the crowd converged on new hot-spot The Brixton, for a joint afterparty with the “Entrepelooza” festivities that were co-sponsored by Startup DC and Microsoft.
