Forget the fact that last week the Government and schools were shut down and the city, once again, paralyzed for a day because of snow and freezing temperatures.

Spring is here! Yes. It is. And just how do we know? Because suddenly DC’s looking a little more fashionable. Gilt City had its annual warehouse sale at Long View Gallery, featuring Gilt’s top designer brands — from men’s and women’s fashion to home accessories, kids goods and more.  Designer merchandise at up to 90% off?  Yes, please.

A plethora of the area’s fashion forward bargainistas enjoyed racks and racks and rows and rows of fine fashion and lifestyle products with a backdrop of spinning DJs, snacks and a healthy helping of fashion and tailoring advice.

This year, The Gilt City Warehouse Sale was a fantastic time to stock up on wardrobe staples. “There is always a strong selection of denim, jackets, dresses in an array of fabrics, colors, and cuts for all body types and one-of-a-kind pieces or a splash of color to make your Spring wardrobe really pop!, said Marissa Schneider, Gilt’s DC curator.

Our arms may be a little tired from carrying all those bags home, but small price to pay for a small price to pay.

For those seeking a little fashion trend advice for the spring, Schneider offers these suggestions:

Powerful prints
Florals, geometric and graphic prints; black and white seems to stay with us season after season, tribal and soft tie-dye looks also graced Spring 2014 runways.

Sporty-Chic
Tuxedo trousers, racing stripes on tops and tees, bomber jackets in different fabrics and color are versatile and of-the-moment.

Pastels
From cool sky blue hues and pale pinks to soft mint greens and buttery yellows, pastels make a comeback this season and could not be more flattering with other new arrivals like white wide-leg trousers, and tea-length skirts.

Light Knits
Layering for Spring could not be easier with the amount of knits on the scene. Luxurious textures and interesting woven accents help the knits stand apart  – metallic threads, deconstructed hemlines, stripes, and bold prints. Pair with trousers now, and shorts and skirts later, then take these knits with you into fall when the temperatures drop after summer.
