“I was in the Army. I did ROTC in college and served a term of seven years on active duty. I was a Black helicopter pilot. My flight duties got cut short when I was wounded pretty severely in Afghanistan in 2004 and spent the next four years recovering from injuries and having lots of surgeries.”
