It’s hard to get past “The Fonz” thing when you’re sitting across the table from Henry Winker. But then again, why would you want to?
Winkler, a popular personality both inside and outside of Hollywood, was in town for The Paralyzed Veterans of America dinner to Honor Outstanding Leadership of those Improving the Lives of Veterans with Disabilities with keynote speaker Admiral James A. Winnefeld, Jr. USN, Vice Chairman, The Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Paralyzed Veterans of America honors both extraordinary leaders, who help our nation’s paralyzed veterans and their families, and highlights the vital role that Paralyzed Veterans of America has in probiding programs for improving the quality of life for veterans with disabilities.
Winkler is the Ambassador of the ”Open Arms“ educational campaign that joined forces with a team of national patient advocacy groups and Allergan, the maker of BOTOX® (onabotulinumtoxinA), to raise awareness for upper limb spasticity and let people know that upper limb spasticity treatment options are available. “Seeing what my mother went through,” he said “I feel I owe it to others with the condition to do what I can to help.”
He sat down with Hollywood on the Potomac to discuss this, his books, his career, his collaborations with Ron Howard and how indeed “Happy Days” are ahead for him.
