“We have a store in Tysons,” said Elizabeth Reid, vice president of marketing and communications of Mulberry in North America, “which has been here a little under a year so we want to align ourselves with important organizations in the DC area and really develop long standing relationships and show everyone what Mulberry is.”

“We’re here today to show everyone what Mulberry is from our handbags to our ready to wear and we’re excited,” Reid added. Although Reid is based in New York and the flagship store is in London, she hopes to open one in the Georgetown area soon (at the insistence of most guests). Mulberry is a luxury player explanding internationally with all the quintessential Britishness to inspire a world-class luxury shopping destination.
“High” took on new meaning when the models arrived – 5’11” – in six inch heels.

“I think their products are beautiful,” said Pamela Sorensen of Pamela’s Punch. “They’re very classic, but they’re kind of fun with lots of popping colors as well. I love the hardware on them – very special, very beautiful and very unique…….very wearable and very Washington, DC, but also can take other places like New York.”

“I’m Miss Black America from Maryland,” said DeJanee Fennell who was there with her brother Jeffrey. “I’ll be going to the Miss Black America Pageant which is going to be in August of next year and I’m super excited about it.” “It’s the first pageant she has been in,” said Jeffrey proudly. DeJanee sang for the talent portion, but Jeffrey says it doesn’t run in the family. “I sang Beyonce’s Sweet Dreams,” added DeJanee while Jeffrey looked on wishing it were a family talent.

As for the high tea, a tradition at The Four Seasons, the British tradition continued. Here is a factoid compliments of Afternoon Tea.co.uk:
“Tea consumption increased dramatically during the early nineteenth century and it is around this time that Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford is said to have complained of “having that sinking feeling” during the late afternoon. At the time it was usual for people to take only two main meals a day, breakfast, and dinner at around 8 o’clock in the evening. The solution for the Duchess was a pot a tea and a light snack, taken privately in her boudoir during the afternoon.” We’ll drink to that!
