From Ridley and Tony Scott and director Adrian Moat, who is known for his civil war epic “Gettysburg” comes “Killing Lincoln” — based on the book of the same name from Bill O’Reilly. The movie stars Billy Campbell (The Rocketeer, Once and Again) as President Lincoln and Jesse Johnson as John Wilkes Booth.

The DC premiere on Monday set ablaze many conversations about American history with the cast and crew ready to weigh in.

Tom Hanks, who voices the film as the narrator, wasn’t on hand but his contribution was not underestimated. Hanks has become a leading voice in history on film thanks to series such as Band of Brothers and From the Earth to the Moon which he produced. Producer Erik Jendresen said Hanks was practically the only acceptable choice as narrator…and it doesn’t hurt that he’s a distant relative of Lincoln on his mother’s side. Killing Lincoln premieres on the National Geographic Channel on February 17, 2013.
