Where can you and your doggie have your cake and eat it too? The 12th Annual Sugar and Champagne, an embarrassment of the area’s sweetest riches, will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building on January 31st.
Hosts Chef Todd Gray and Ellen Kassoff Gray (Equinox Restaurant, Muse at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and Salamander Resort) will kick off the event in the VIP Chefs’ Tasting Room where canine and human guests will enjoy an exclusive savory gathering. Featured chefs will include: Chef Gray, Chef Harper McClure (The Federalist), Chef Robert Wiedmaier (Marcel’s), Chef Scott Drewno (The Source), Chef Jamie Leeds (Hank’s Oyster Bar), Chef Anthony Lombardo (1789), Chef Emily Sprissler (Mayfair & Pine), Chef David Gaus (Bayou Bakery), and Chef Nick Palermo (Old Angler’s Inn).
The area’s most talented pastry chefs and mixologists will be on hand to offer everything from works of edible art and gorgeous gourmet desserts to free-flowing champagne, and some of the finest sparkling wines. Seriously. It’s Champagne and dessert, people. And PUPPIES! Who doesn’t love puppies? You may find your newest household member and friend for life here, as Washington Humane will have dogs available for adoption on hand. Come on…you know you want one. Seriously.
This year’s emcee is Fresh 94.7’s Tommy McFly, an adoptive ‘parent’ himself, who will preside over the first Sugar & Champagne Cake Walk, where a few lucky guests will get to take home a fabulous specialty cake. Pastry Chefs will display their culinary confections on stage, with these then being live auctioned off to the highest bidder. Not only that, but someone will be the fortunate winner of the NEW Golden Ticket, taking home a magnificent culinary experience. Boo-ya!
This event again honors our local crusaders against animal cruelty while raising critical funds to help care for the homeless pet population in our nation’s capital.
And yes, you can bring Fido! Leashed dogs are welcome and encouraged to attend (no retractable leashes please). All proceeds will directly benefit the animals and programs of the Washington Humane Society.
