“Donations like this are the backbone of Manna,” said Stephanie Hubbard, Manna’s director of development. This time of year, “we’re really working double time as a staff to meet the needs of those neighbors who are trying to provide for their families.” Manna is a food center whose vision for the future is “nothing less than food security for all – where hunger no longer exists, as residents are self-sufficient and providing for themselves.”

More than 150 guests including Washington, DC area’s top designers Kelley Proxmire, Marika Meyer, David Benton, Liz Levin, Lauren Liess, and Michael Hampton, along with EasyPaint’s Marty Cornish and John Rosen, joined Ross, who is known for turning thrift store finds into charming treasures, and co-author Jaithan Kochar for a night of casual conversation, Southern-inspired food by Chef Ed Jiloca of Relish Catering, beverages from Zevia, and mini pies by Lindsay Miniaci of Sweetly Anchored Patisserie. Vocalist Hayley Gayne and pianist Manuel Medina entertained the crowd, including 94.7 Fresh FM’s Tommy McFly, while Ross discussed the making of Modern Mix, which he says is “living with old things in a new way.”
