For some, going back to school is an intimidating task, but for a new crop of current and former pro-athletes who are signed up with George Washington University for a new program, they are all excited and ready to embrace the new opportunity.

The STAR EMBA program, which stands for Special Talents Access and Responsibilities is an executive MBA program that is focused on individuals with high visibility, strong personal brands, and major platforms…which equates to many athletes, artists, and musicians. The program itself builds up leadership skills and promotes social responsibility while engaging the students to leverage their current career success to new heights.

ESPN featured a program in their 30 for 30 series titled “Broke” which charts how an astounding number of professional athletes will lose their fortunes just a few years after retirement, and that alone serves as motivation to some of the STAR EMBA students. Others are focused on building up new earning potential off-the-field and figuring out ways to promote foundations and social causes, some even opted to bring their wives into the program as well.Â
A couple of NFL powerhouses who are in the GWU program told us what it’s like to get back to school:
