Whether you were craving seafood linguini or just an apple martini, Cities Restaurant and Lounge offered up both at the downtown hotspot.
The ladies of SWS, also known as “Sipping with Socialites,” organized an event to raise money for the Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex at Children’s National Medical Center that has cared for more than 1,500 children and adolescents with Type 1, Type 2 and other forms of diabetes.
The women of SWS are considered “dynamic women sharing their points of view on all the latest headlines over cocktails.” Celebs, publicists, bloggers, politicos and philanthropists raised their glasses to the cause! “Socialites today have everyday jobs. Craving sparkling wine or Chanel? A few lucky winners of the raffle definitely were and took home some incredible prizes!
“The raffle prizes are amazing,” a guest told us, “Why would anyone not participate?”
Jennifer Lopez, (no, not that one) a DC socialite, tells Hollywood on the Potomac that she heard about the event from a friend and simply had to attend, having been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was only five years old. “I have learned to deal with it” she admits “but it’s no walk in the park. It’s nice to see that so many people want to donate to this cause.”
Guests tweeted about the cause and included trending topics like #sipwithsocialites and #cocktail hour! Another guest told us: “I always tweet about where I am, especially when I am sipping with socialites- no pun intended.”
