Legacy journalism organizations are not the only ones who made the most out of the 2024 White House Correspondents’ Dinner…organizations like Substack, who are paving the way for a new generation of journalistic pursuits got in on the fun as well.
Substack, which is an online platform that has allowed displaced and independent journalists find a home for their coverage and writing knew that their seat at the table may not have been in the Washington Hilton, but instead providing a fun gathering for the many independent correspondents who help contribute to DC’s media landscape.

Substack Politics hosted the New Media Party at The Willard during the dinner itself to celebrate independent journalists and the next generation of media empires being built on the Substack platform.

Guests mixed and mingled with music and cocktails, and Substack founder Hamish McKenzie welcomed the bubbly crowd with a message that not all impactful journalism happens in the newspapers and TV stations that once represented the Washington press corps.
