Susan Patton has been getting a lot of heat these days for expressing her opinion on dating in The Daily Princetonian, the independent student-run newspaper of Princeton University where she suggests you find a husband on campus before you graduate.
“For most of you, the cornerstone of your future and happiness will be inextricably linked to the man you marry, and you will never again have this concentration of men who are worthy of you,” she opined.
But does she have a point? If you listen to young people today……. the most common phrase you hear about the dating scene is “I can’t find anyone,” in which case Patton may have a point.
Rather than getting into an intellectual debate about the above, we turned to expert matchmaker Hellen Chen who for the past 10 years has specialized in helping “notorious bachelors” and “spoiled bachelorettes” to turn around and take on the responsibilities of marriage. She is the author of The Matchmaker of the Century.

Award-winning Director Wuna Wu heard about Chen and decided to follow her around with a camera as she counseled couples. Wu’s desire to settle down after many failed attempts, also sought her help.
“The result is a humorous, real and yet painful look at modern romance. This real-life documentary with no famous stars or pre-written scripts premiered in Taiwan and later went onto major film festivals and captured the hearts of audiences internationally.” Production Notes
If you can’t get to Taiwan, you may want to take the Red Eye to The Oakland International Film Festival in California where the documentary will be featured on April 5th.
Hollywood on the Potomac chatted with Chen from her home in Taiwan. Sounds exhausting, BUT: “You can ignore it, be skeptical about it, turn your back against it but the quest for everlasting love will never go away.”- Hellen Chen
