“For years and years I go places and people tell me they love me on The Commish,” joked CNN conservative commentator David Urban, “and I say ‘It’s not me.’ And for years and years, people stop Michael Chiklis at the airport and say, ‘How can you support Donald Trump?’ And he says, ‘It’s not me.’ So ladies and gentlemen, we’re two different people.” Both were at the Annual Garden Brunch yukking it up and looking very much like twins. Just a thought, but maybe they should add Kevin O’Leary to the mix and make it a trio.

The 32nd anniversary of the annual White House Correspondents’ Weekend Garden Brunch was held at the historic Beall-Washington House in Georgetown. This year’s event was co-hosted by Tammy Haddad, Kevin Sheekey, Mark and Sally Ein, David Urban, Teresa Carlson and Franco Nuschese. Guests gathered to honor acts of public service—through military duty, volunteerism and community leadership—paying tribute to those who serve the nation and their fellow citizens.

Amid the relaxed garden setting and festive atmosphere, a moment of solemnity underscored the importance of service and sacrifice. Actor Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus) and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), co-chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, presented the Garden Brunch Award for Bravery and Service to the heroic first responders who answered the call after the tragic January 29, 2025 air collision over the Potomac River that claimed 67 lives. The award brought a poignant pause to the afternoon, reminding attendees of the courage and commitment of those who run toward danger in moments of crisis.
“On a day filled with laughter and light conversation, this moment reminds us why we gather—to honor those whose actions define true service,” Isaacs said.
Rep. Fitzpatrick added, “These heroes exemplify the best of us. Their bravery in the face of unimaginable tragedy is a solemn reminder that public service is not just a calling—it’s a sacrifice.”
Honorees included members of the search and rescue team: Lt. Michael Cotter, Jeffrey Mathias, Steven Hater, Shaun Wathen, and Dan McCoy.
