Celebrity lobbyist Fran Drescher wants us to “TRASH IT”

That means detoxing your home and having fun doing it by hosting a “TRASH IT” party.

Ok, we’ll consider doing just that because we are big Drescher fans. The affable actress and advocate of women’s health issues is considered to be one of the nicest of the nicest in Hollywoodland; plus, she is a frequent visitor to Washington and even celebrated her birthday with us a few years ago.

And she’s funny, there’s that.

Check out this hilarious parody video featuring Fran having a conversation (or not) with Siri.

We chatted with Fran today about her new campaign, but thought we would first give you some background on the results of her lobbying efforts.

In May of 2005, she testified at a hearing on gynecological disorders organized by then Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa. which helped pass the Gynecologic Cancer Education and Awareness Act that authorized the Secretary of Health and Human Services to initiate a national campaign to increase women’s awareness and knowledge of gynecological cancers.

“It was gratifying to know a person can actually go and speak to representatives and speak at a Senate hearing and actually make a change,” said Drescher at the time, who chronicled her battle with uterine cancer in a best-selling memoir – Cancer Schmancer.

“You wouldn’t believe how many people on Capitol Hill get squeamish when you say the word ‘vagina.’

Er…..yup….we believe it.  Recently there was a kerfuffle in Congress when MI State Rep. Lisa Brown was denied speaking on the House Floor following a “V” remark.

“If I can’t say the word vagina, why are we legislating vaginas?” said Brown asked after being barred from speaking on the House floor.  Brown gave a speech against a bill that would restrict abortions, ending her remarks by uttering the anatomical term “vagina.”

“You know what the best cure for cancer is?  Doing everything possible to prevent yourself from getting it in the first place!,” continued Drescher in our chat.  “90% of cancers are environmental, but  we can reduce our risk by detoxing  our home – which happens to be a very toxic place that we spend the most time in!

My organization Cancer Schmancer has a new game changing initiative called Trash Cancer.
