On your mark…………get set………..…GO!
With wallets in hand and credit cards at the ready, the throng of ticket holders dashed into this year’s District Sample Sale in the most Filene’s ‘Running of the Bride’s’ fashion.
And by ‘fashion,’ we mean fashion in all of its most literal terms.
Because let’s face it…no red blooded American can eschew a sale; and when the sale benefits worthy charities…ding…ding…ding…ding…
Now we even have justification. So buy, buy, Baby! Mama needs a new pair of shoes (and a dress and accessories to go with them)!
According to their website, “The District Sample Sale is the Washington, DC region’s
We have to concur. It features over 20 top designer clothing and shoe boutiques selling their end-of-season wares at liquidation-level prices, with many previewing their upcoming season looks at DSS-exclusive pricing.
The organization is all volunteer. Over $240,000 has been donated to their charities since 2006.
This seasons District Sample Sale at Mazza Gallerie on Wisconsin Avenue lived up to everything promised.
With racks and racks of everything from outerwear to underwear; rows and rows of jewelry, handbags and more from boutiques like Wink, Ginger, Imagine fashion apothecary (at which some of us, no names mentioned, dropped a bundle thanks to their personal shopper) and Urban Chic; and jewelry from Queen Bee and Charm; not to mention the shoes….who could resist a little overspending?
And of course there was PR & Partners.
“We started in the fall 2006 as an opportunity to bring all the stores of the Metro area together to serve the economy, women and children’s charities and to have some fun,” said Barbara Martin of Brandlink DC, one of the event’s founders and organizers. “We as of the moment have raised $266,000 and expect to go over $300,000 by the end of the evening.” Staggering. You go, Barbara.
But of course one cannot shop on an empty stomach.
Helloooooo Georgetown Cupcake, Rosa Mexicano, Southern Hospitality and more from Pinkberry to Public to Ping Pong and Equinox Gym to undo any of the former’s damage.
An amazing evening. But let’s face it, any evening that includes sale designer merchandise, food and wine has GOT to have something going for it.
We love Distrait Sample Sale…….it almost makes us look forward to next season’s goods before we even have taken this year’s out of our (numerous) bags.
