You already know this weekend was the 100th Annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner (WHCAD)—and you already know it’s called the Nerd Prom for a reason…a mix of Hollywood Starlets and some of the biggest political and media wonks in DC.
The glitzy were in fact dressed to the nines and ready for a fun night and the mix was diverse. Musicians, actors, athletes and everything in between.
Meghan McCain and Senator John McCain
Besides hearing the President speak, one of the most exciting times on dinner night is watching the hundreds of recognizable faces arrive at the Washington Hilton, mingling together in the hallways, sipping on cocktails and this year, certainly taking a selfie or two.
Let’s take some inventory of who came to this year’s dinner.
The Most-Beautiful: Lupita Nyong’o from “12 Years a Slave”
Clearly in a category all her own, the Oscar winner for best supporting actress for her role in ’12 years a Slave’ recently grabbed much attention from the world again as she graced the cover of People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful” and she was out to shine when she arrived in a sparkling, spotted dress.
Fake DC Meets Real DC:
Julia Louis-Dreyfus from “VEEP”
The Cast of ABC’s “Scandal” with Joanna Coles from Cosmopolitan Magazine
Once again, casts from a number of DC-centric TV shows descended on the dinner to get a view of what real world DC actually looks like. Cast members from HBO’s VEEP, ABC’s Scandal and the Netflix sensation House of Cards were all out in force.
Models:
Victoria’s Secret model Anne V
Model Irina Shayk
DC has been called Hollywood for ugly people on way too many occasions, so maybe someone had the bright idea that inviting some of the most glamorous models in the world would brighten things up. I’m not going to try and argue with the logic. Spotted in attendance were Victoria’s Secret Angel Anne V, Irina Shayk, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Genevieve Morton, and Claudia Jordan.
Athletes and Olympians:
Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss
Olympian Lindsey Vonn
Olympians Jamie Anderson and Lindsey Vonn. Former footballer Tim Tebow, former Olympic rowers (and bitcoin tech giants) Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss. Tony Romo, Richard Sherman…just to name a few.
Richard Sherman and Howard Fineman
Candice Crawford Romo and Tony Romo
Musicians:
Hopefully ready to sing a song in case the comedy went awry, there was Jessica Simpson, N’Sync’s JC Chasez, Brad Paisley, Katharine McPhee, Michelle Branch and Will.i.am.
Jessica Simpson
NBC’s David Gregory and Will.i.am
News Hounds:
MSNBC’s Ronan Farrow
Obviously, what would a Correspondents’ dinner be without plenty of actual correspondents (White House or otherwise.) Katie Couric, Wolf Blitzer, Barbara Walters, George Stephanopoulos, Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and even newly minted MSNBC wunderkind Ronan Farrow.
Barbara Walters and Julianna Margulies
Diane Lane and CNN’s Wolf Blitzer
