If John Tamny had his way, he would shut down the Fed……the Fed being The Federal Reserve. “If you don’t get it, you don’t get it,” as The Washington Post would say. We didn’t get it, so we asked Tamny to explain in ‘lay terms’ why he would do that while at a book party in his honor at the DC Kalorama residence of Juleanna Glover & Christopher Reiter hosted by Tom Adams, Edward Crane, Nick Gillespie, Windsor Mann and Richard Rahn. His latest book is “Who Needs the Fed?”

John Tamny greets guests

While Tamny is NOT an economist, as he was quick to emphatically point out, he does cover the intersection of economics and politics and is the Political Economy editor at Forbes, editor of RealClearMarkets.com and a Senior Fellow in Economics at Reason Foundation; so we’ll take his word for his reasons to shut down the Fed, even though he is NOT an economist.  What we liked most, though, was learning how the wealth of Taylor Swift, Uber and The Rolling Stones were all facilitators in our own success. – thus the subtitle of the book: What Taylor Swift, Uber and Robots Tell Us About Money, Credit, and Why We Should Abolish America’s Central Bank.

His other book is Popular Economics: What LeBron James, the Rolling Stones and Downtown Abbey Can Teach You About Economics which was released in 2015.  That interview here. We love the Hollywood analogy and plan to send Taylor Swift and Paris Hilton a thank you note.

Popular Economics

Hollywood on the Potomac sat down with John while guests enjoyed dinner in the background.  “Taylor Swift will entertain you. What she’ll teach you in the book is that if you want to please your customers, you must please those providing the service first.”
