Will on the Hill, Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Annual Bipartisan Comedic Event, took place on May 6th at Sidney Harman Hall.
“Will on the Hill welcomes Members of Congress, Senators and distinguished Washington insiders onto the Company’s stage to perform in an original production that combines Shakespeare with comedic references to contemporary politics.
The performance pays tribute to the unique dynamic of our city and provides a wonderful way to engage new audiences in the arts and support the Company’s artistic, education and community outreach programs,” according to the Theatre’s statement.” This year was no exception.

This year’s performance, Toil and Trouble, offered a look inside Washington media starring John Leguizamo, best known for his role in the feature film Romeo + Juliet and Anna Chlumsky of VEEP.
“In the Washington studios of a national news network, the staff is on high alert. The White House has announced that it will be delivering a major statement at any moment, but that’s all—no details, no hints. With nothing to go on, but plenty of air time to fill, two veteran anchors try to hold onto their audience (and their sanity) by bringing on a series of guests. Unfortunately, the only guests available are attending a Shakespearean costume ball, lending an improbably comic air to the proceedings.”

Proceeds from the event support STC’s many education, artistic and community outreach programs.
