“Screenwriting is very different than movies,” said Drew Chapman in an interview with Hollywood on the Potomac.  “In movies, the screenwriter just writes the script, hands it over and the director just takes it over.  In television, the writer becomes the head of the show – called the show-runner – and executive producer and so you are sitting there figuring out who is going to be in the cast, what’s going to be in the shot.  You pick the director and then you and the director work hand in hand.  You’re involved in every step of the process.  That’s why I always tell young people, write for television. Television is where the power is, where the fun is, and where you can really get your voice heard.”
